Den første og de følgende cirkler

Den første og de følgende cirkler is a collection of philosophical essays about moving in circles and patterns of connection. The texts do not gather around one single theme, so the task was less about illustrating a subject and more about finding a structure for movement and relation.

I developed two directions. One followed the author’s idea of moving in circles away from an origin point and out into the wider world. The other took up the thought that in a smaller, more connected world, collective action becomes both possible and necessary.

The cover that was chosen is charming, informal and easy to decode. My own favourite was the other one.

That happens, and it is worth saying out loud. A cover is not only a visual argument; it is a negotiation between tone, clarity, ambition and the author’s own sense of the book.

What I still like about the alternative is its spatial quality. The circles become a composition, but also a kind of map. The small flags look like a minor detail — and yet they carry the most important idea on the front: the possibility of a shared, outward movement.
